Chris Cuomo rants over Sylvester Stallone, admits 'didn't love' his movies: 'A cartoonish fool'

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Chris Cuomo surprised many after digging into legendary actor Sylvester Stallone, labeling him a ‘cartoonish fool.’ The ex-CNN journalist was the guest at ‘The Adam Friedland Show’ when the two were discussing Cuomo’s former co-worker Wolf Blitzer. The host asked, “[Did he ever had his] 'p***s out under the desk' to which Cuomo responded, “No, I called him ‘the captain’ when I was there. He was the exemplar of everything we wanted to be. The guy works his a** off and he’s a good man.”

Friedland then said, “He’s like a Stallone character,” Cuomo replied, “Instead of being a cartoonish fool, Blitzer is just an earnest good guy.” "You’re anti-Stallone?” asked confused Friedman. Cuomo then clarified that he 'didn't love' any of his characters, including Rocky Balboa.

'I was going to kill everybody, including myself'

Cuomo was shown the door at CNN in 2021 after he advised his brother, Andrew Cuomo, the then-governor of New York as he was fighting a sexual misconduct scandal. Chris was accused of sharing stories in the pipeline related to his brother, using his media connections and contacts to the governor’s operatives. Later, in a podcast hosted by Anthony Scaramucci, he said, “I had to accept [the CNN termination] because I was going to kill everybody, including myself. Things can consume you.” The 52-year-old added, “Italians are so passionate and I really had to fight against that because... I got too many people counting on me.”

Talking about his mental struggle, he shared that went to a therapist after being fired from CNN. “There is damage that is relatable, there is damage that is unrelatable to people that I have to deal with, that I am working on,' he said.

'Don't be me'

Cuomo further said, "You've got to make things happen. There is no luck, there is no fate, there is no destiny. What happens is what you make happen and how you deal with what is made to happen to you, for better and worse. And you know, I make a lot of mistakes — sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad reason. I'm very flawed, I still fail. I'm gonna screw up. And I always tell my kids, you know, almost 20, 17, 13, that — don't be me. Learn from me. I love you. I will always love you, doesn't matter what you do, and I am here for whatever I can do. I'm gonna get angry, I'm gonna screw up, I'm gonna make mistakes, I'm gonna say and do things that you should not say and do," as per Daily Mail.

Many fans reacted to Cuomo's comment on Stallone. "Stallone is entertaining. Cuomo is not." Another came in support of the star, "Look at Sylvester Stallone's success and then look at Chris Cuomo's failures." One fan simply wrote, "? Oh boy messing with Rambo, not good...." However, for a few Cuomo's remark made sense too, "I’m not a fan Chris, but he may have a point here."
