Miriam Margolyes has hit the headlines for, well, hitting the headlines. The actor appeared on the cover of Vogue for their Pride edition and broke the internet with her iconic shoot and the article that went with it in which she discussed her life, her sexuality and more. Her Vogue cover Let us begin, then, with that Vogue photoshoot which saw Margolyes using delicately placed cherry bakewell tarts to cover her breasts. Aside from that, Margolyes offered some interesting insights about what it means to be gay and seemed like a very entertaining interviewee indeed. 2. When she farted on This Morning In November 2021, The Harry Potter star let one rip during an advert break, which caused Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby to crack up. Willoughby slapped her then co-host as he wheezed: “I can’t. I can’t act professionally, I should pull myself together but Miriam has just had the most enormous fart.” Willoughby also chuckled silently and wiped a tear from her eye. Laughing along, Margolyes said: “You outed me.” “You outed it,” Schofield quipped back. 3. When she had no idea who Harry Styles was Like many celebrities, Margolyes sometimes does the odd Cameo for fans. When she taught everyone how to wash their genitals Ever the educator, Margolyes shared some wisdom about how to keep yourself clean. She shared the words of wisdom backstage on This Morning, where she advised scrubbing your 'bits under, over, and in-between.' "It's very important," she laughed with a straight face, in the clip which was posted to the show's TikTok. 5. When she called Leonardo DiCaprio "smelly" Last year, Margolyes joked that Leonardo DiCaprio was "smelly" when they met on the set of Romeo and Juliet in 1996. "He was a bit smelly because it was very hot in Mexico," she defended. "Young boys...and he was very young at the time...they don't make themselves fragrant." 6. When she swore about Jeremy Hunt on live radio In October 2022, Margolyes did not hold back when sharing her thoughts on the new chancellor Jeremy Hunt while live on the Today Programme on BBC Radio 4. Talking about bumping into him, she told the presenters: "When I saw him there, I said, ‘You’ve got a hell of a job, best of luck.’ And what I really want to say was, ‘F*** you, bastard.’ But you can't say that." Seems like even Margolyes has a filter - sort of. 7. When she said what we were all thinking about Matt Hancock In November 2022, the actress appeared on The Six O'Clock Show where she was asked to give her views on the former health secretary Hancock joining I'm A Celebrity, something that led him to having his Tory whip suspended from him. Immediately, she unleashed a tirade of criticism about the politician, and even questioned why a person would want to be his "lover". "What a vile personality!" she said. "What an appalling adulterous creep." "And why we have him on our televisions I don't know" she continued. "I don't know why he was thought of a proper person to entertain. "He's a vile human being. He nearly destroyed our national health service, he sent loads of people with Covid, old ladies, back into their care homes. "I think he's a detestable, vile, puny individual. How anybody can let him be their lover I don't know. I think he's vile and I think the same of most of that government". Say what you really think, Miriam. 8. When she explained how Lawrence Olivier turned her on Someone who she has a warmer feeling to is Olivier. Margolyes appeared on Graham Norton with a story about meeting the actor that turned quite graphic. She started her story by saying: "I used to collect autographs at the stage door." Miriam then began to get more graphic by describing how she became sexually aroused when she saw the star. 9. Jada Pinkett Smith has shared how she was once asked on a date by none other than Chris Rock. In an interview with NBC, the 52-year-old actor also made headlines after revealing that she and her husband Will Smith have been secretly separated for several years but have no plans to divorce. "I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be," she said. Back in 2016, there had been rumours and reports about the Hollywood couple splitting, and Pinkett Smith recalled a phone call she received from Rock around this time - a memory also mentioned in her new memoir, Worthy set to be released on October 17. “I think every summer all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce. And this particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce," she said. "So he called me and basically he was like, ‘I'd love to take you out.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He was like, ‘Well, aren't you and Will getting a divorce?’ I was like, ‘No. Chris, those are just rumors'.” She added: “He was appalled. And he profusely apologised, and that was that.” The Smiths and Rock would find themselves in the headlines years later after Will Smith infamously slapped the comedian and host of the 2022 Oscars after he made a joke about Pinkett Smith during the awards ceremony. "Keep my wife's name out of your f**king mouth," Smith shouted at the time. Following this viral moment, Smith was banned from the Oscars and other Academy events for 10 years. Pinkett Smith shared how she hasn't spoken to Rock since the incident. “[Do I have] any desire to talk to Chris? Here's my desire: I just hope that all the misunderstanding around this can be cleared up and that there can be peace,” she told PEOPLE. It started out as a relatively gritty film series grounded in the realities of underground street racing, but the Fast and Furious series has evolved and grown exponentially over recent years into something entirely different. Instead of the character dramas about drag races and undercover cops – which admittedly did take a few liberties with the laws of physics from time to time – the last few films have ditched the idea of reality entirely. And why not? People want to see cars being flown into space and Vin Diesel bombing around in a super car dodging explosions, and quite honestly we hope the series continues to get more and more ridiculous as time goes on. These are the times the Fast and Furious movies 'abandoned reality' – and took us along for the ride. The rope swing scene from F9 Where to even start with this one. Not only does a car attach to a plane after driving straight off a cliff, but Diesel proceeds to follow it by swinging off a rope like Spider-Man and landing safely(ish) with Michelle Rodríguez. If Fast 9’s stunts have anything to go by, we’re clearly in for some of the biggest and silliest stunts ever in Fast X. When Vin Diesel fought off 20 men and pulled down a building He’s a big guy, Diesel. But is he big enough to fight off a squad of hired goons and pull down the entire bowels of a building with his bare hands? Definitely not. When Vin Diesel smashed into Jason Statham There have been some unhinged moments in the franchise, but sometimes the simplest are the most effective. In this bonkers scene from Fast and Furious 7 Diesel and Jason Statham take part in a demented game of chicken. The pair of them slam their cars head-first into one another, before surviving a crash that would have definitely killed them both. Bonkers. Vin Diesel stopping submarines All of Fast and Furious 8 or Fate of the Furious is like something dreamed up by a five-year-old with their first Hot Wheels set, and nothing is more unrealistic than this moment. It sees Diesel guide a heat-seeking missile into the path of a submarine, before taking cover from the explosion behind their cars, all on a thin sheet of ice. Flying a car into space If the series hadn’t jumped the shark already, then sending a car into space, before breaking the sound barrier and crash landing into a satellite at -270 degrees Celsius in Fast 9 surely did it. When Vin Diesel defied the laws of gravity By this point in Fast and Furious 6, the series had abandoned laws of physics to such a great extent that they gave Diesel straight-up flying capabilities. After Rodríguez is thrown from a tank, she looks doomed to fall from a great height, only for Diesel to take off, zoom through the sky and catch her mid-air, saving the day. Thank heavens. When Vin Diesel develops magic powers in the fourth film This has to be the strangest in the entire list. For a brief moment in Fast 4, the creators of the franchise briefly gave Diesel the power to evaporate into thin air and miss a fatal crash. For a moment, it looked like they’d turned the series’ biggest star into a wizard with magical powers, but then it was never referenced again and things carried on as normal. Very odd. When The Rock held the weight of a chopper Dwayne Johnson’s arrival in the Fast series really helped to turn the franchise into the testosterone-fuelled beast it is today. His first appearance was in Fast 5 and it’s this moment from spin-off movie Hobbs & Shaw where he held the weight of an entire helicopter that really nailed the daftness of his character, and his seemingly limitless strength. Driving from one skyscraper to another The films are never short on spectacle, no-one can deny that. What is debatable, though, is the viability of a car driving out of one hi-rise building and then landing perfectly safe in another skyscraper a little further apart. When Vin Diesel survived direct missile strikes Although Vin Diesel is already in a Marvel film (he plays 'Groot' in Guardians of the Galaxy) – the fact is, he’s been playing a superhero for more than 20 years.
