Matthew Perry's special request he made for the final episode of Friends has resurfaced following the sad news of his death. In his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, released last year, the late actor revealed how he wanted to close out the show by saying the final line. "No one else will care about this except me,” Perry wrote. “So may I please have the last line?” he asked the producer. The finale of the hugely popular sitcom came in 2004 after 10 seasons, and the final scene saw Chandler and Monica (played by Perry and Courteney Cox) bid an emotional farewell to their empty purple apartment as they were joined by Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), Joey (Matt LeBlanc), Ross (David Schwimmer). Before Chandler and Monica leave the city for the suburbs to start family life with their newborn twins, Rachel suggests the group grab a final cup of coffee. That's when Chandler's sarcastic humour shines through one last time to end the show on a light-hearted note. “Sure,” Chandler replied. “Where?” Of course, fans of the show know exactly where - the group's local coffee shop Central Perk which had been one of the iconic backdrops of the series. “I got to bring the curtain down on Friends,” Perry wrote. “I love the look on Schwimmer’s face as I deliver that line — it’s the perfect mixture of affection and amusement, exactly what the show Friends had always given to the world.” Upon news of Perry being declared dead on October 28, aged 54, many Friends fans shared how Perry made this last line request. One person wrote: "It is incredibly bittersweet that Chandler had the last line in the final episode of Friends. Gonna miss Matthew Perry a lot." "Matthew Perry delivered the final line in Friends. And made one word into a final laugh. A talented man. RIP," another person said. Someone else added: "One of my favorite jokes in the show and the ultimate send-off." "This was the perfect last words on Friends,” a fourth person commented. “Inside joke was that the Central Perk set had already been taken down. The cast of Friends released a statement, following the tragic news of Perry's death. "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are a family,” it read. "There is so much to say, but right now we're going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able. "For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty's family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world". Friends fans have been left heartbroken after a clip has re-emerged of Matthew Perry admitting he had a crush on co-star Jennifer Aniston. The clip resurfaced following the death of the actor, and supporters have been left saddened that it'll never become a reality. “The time I realised I had a crush on Jennifer Aniston was way before the show started", he said at the time, citing that an 'indifference' forced him to get over it. Speaking to i-D Magazine, the 10-year-old chatted all things fashion, family and future aspirations and posed for the publication's The New Wave Issue cover. Despite her young age, North has nearly 17m followers on her shared TikTok account with her mum @kimandnorth - some of the shenanigans include doing her auntie, Kylie Jenner's makeup, doing pranks, filming with Selena Gomez's younger sister, transforming into her dad using makeup, and even going live (without permission). "A basketball player, a rapper, um... Well, when I was seven, I wanted to be a boxer. But now I don’t want to be a boxer. I’m going to do art on the side," she said. "When I’m, like, thirteen, I want to walk dogs, to make money to buy art supplies, because everything around here is so expensive. So a rapper, a basketball player, and I’m going to make artwork that I sell." However, she clearly has an interest in business too and noted how she wants to take over her parent's businesses when she's older. The creators of Friends have shared how Matthew Perry was "in a really good place," two weeks before his sudden death. The 54-year-old's death was confirmed after was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon. In an interview preview from the Today show that will air today (November 1) Marta Kauffman and David Crane spoke to the actor who played Chandler Bing in their popular sitcom for a decade. “It was great,” Kauffman said about the last conversation she had with Perry. “He was happy and chipper. He didn’t seem weighed down by anything. He was in a really good place, which is why this seems so unfair.” Kauffman, Crane along with executive producer Bright also released a statement together after news broke of Perry's unexpected death. "We are shocked and deeply, deeply saddened by our beloved friend Matthew’s passing," they said. "He was a brilliant talent. It’s a cliche to say that an actor makes a role their own, but in Matthew’s case, there are no truer words. From the day we first heard him embody the role of Chandler Bing, there was no one else for us. "We will always cherish the joy, the light, the blinding intelligence he brought to every moment – not just to his work, but in life as well. He was always the funniest person in the room. More than that, he was the sweetest, with a giving and selfless heart. They concluded: "We send all of our love to his family and friends. This truly is The One Where Our Hearts Are Broken."
