NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Love and Theft's Stephen Barker Liles, who has been married to his wife Jenna Michelle Kennedy since 2014, recently recalled Taylor Swift's song 'Hey Stephen' that she wrote about him.
Liles, 39, talked about the song, part of Swift's 2008 album 'Fearless', in the latest episode of 'The Bobby Bones Show.'
Who is Stephen Barker Liles' wife?
Liles married his wife on August 24, 2014, at the Ruby Event Center Nashville after being engaged for a year. After dating for seven years, they drifted apart and reconnected through Facebook.
Shortly after their engagement in May 2013, the singer told the media, "She is my best friend and I am so grateful for the Lord bringing her into my life."
On the occasion of his engagement, Liles told the People that he had loved her for a long time and would have asked her sooner but wanted to wait until he could get her a nice ring.
Liles and Kennedy have two children together: a son named Jett Barker Liles, born in 2013, and a daughter named Rayni, born in 2017.
Stephen Barker Liles recalls Taylor Swift song
When asked if the song was really about him, Liles said, "Taylor put us on the first tour we ever did. It was like, she was just about to release the 'Fearless' album so we went on our first tour and [she] wrote a song about me. We got close and it was cool."
Liles also gave a charming opinion about the track, "It's like the nicest song you could write about somebody, so that was cool."
In a 2011 interview given to Taste of Country, Liles said that Swift and he shared a real emotional relationship and used to talk a lot on the phone. "One day she called me up and was like, 'Hey, I wrote a song about you,'" said Liles.
In the conversation, he also revealed that he wrote a song about Swift a week ago, one of his favorite songs ever written. He further confirmed that he had heard the track before the release of 'Fearless'.
'Not all of Taylor Swift's songs are about heartbreak', says US Weekly
US Weekly says that Liles' conversation in 'The Bobby Bones Show' proves not all of Swift's "songs are venomous tunes about ex-boyfriends since her career began."
The song's lyrics like "I can't help it if you look like an angel" and "I can't help if I want to kiss you in the rain slow" shows Swift's ability to portray emotions.
