UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: Coach John Legend teamed Ephraim Owens opposite Deejay Young for the opening battle round of this season. Ephraim had to say his final goodbyes to 'The Voice' Season 24 on the October 17 episode when John had to safeguard his prized vocalist from Niall Horan's steal.
The pair sang Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River." Deejay had the appropriate tone for this song, according to John, but Ephraim had raw energy that was "contagious."
Niall stated that John's team is "stacked up," implying that he was thinking of stealing from Team Legend. Niall felt Deejay had won the battle, but he described the intensity as "electric."
'The Voice' Season 24 fans left disappointed over Ephraim Owens' elimination
As John made his selection, Deejay won the battle. Deejay is representing Team Legend in the three-way knockouts. Ephraim has been knocked out of the competition.
Fans are astounded that Ephraim was sent home without being stolen after Team Legend's first battle round. On X, fans wrote, "@Ephraim_Owens was the clear winner and should have stayed." was the clear winner and should have stayed," complained another. A fourth user argued, "I would have kept Ephraim…."
One disappointed fan wrote, "How did Ephraim Owens go home? Seriously? Shame on the other coaches. I was so looking forward to hearing other songs sung by Ephraim."
Who is Ephraim Owens on 'The Voice' Season 24?
Growing up, Ephraim was surrounded by music. His grandmother provided backup vocals for Marvin Gaye and Al Green, and his father was a music minister.
Every day, Ephraim drives to his wife's family's eight-acre farm. Ephraim works during the day on a risky and uncommon Hess machine called an RH1000, which produces cast stone.
Ephraim's favorite job, on the other hand, is getting up at 5:30 a.m. to prepare his kids' breakfast or go out for donuts with them. His six-year career as an MMA fighter developed his ambition and tenacity to pursue music.
Before a fight, he would frequently train for six hours a day. He likes fighting, but realizes it isn't who he is, so he chooses to take a step back and prioritize music.
'The Voice' Season 24 airs on Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC at 8 pm ET.
