NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Today’ host Al Roker has recently announced an exciting career move away from the NBC show.
Roker took to his Instagram on Wednesday to share the news and revealed that he was going to be developing something for the screen.
This came after he took off from the morning show. Over a week ago, he posted a snap on his Instagram and wrote, “Best apple picking ever. Blue Sky and my Baby Sky. Family.”
In the initial picture, Roker’s granddaughter, Sky, was peacefully sleeping in her carrier.
The second snapshot captured Roker gently cradling a sleeping Sky against the backdrop of an apple tree. This moment took place at Hilltop Orchards in Berkshires, Massachusetts.
The third and final photo showcased more of Roker’s family, who were enjoying his day off together.
Al Roker’s ‘exciting’ career move
On his other Instagram account, Al Roker Entertainment, meant for branded content and production services, the morning show host shared a collage photo featuring himself and bestselling author Marisa Renee Lee.
In the upper corner, there was a professional picture of Roker, and in the lower corner, diagonally opposite, was a professional photo of Marisa.
At the center of the image, there was a news article announcing a collaboration between the TV personality and the author for an on-camera project.
In the same post, there were quotes from Marisa discussing the experience of adapting her bestselling book, ‘Grief Is Love: Living with Loss’, into a film, and another quote from Roker, in which he praised the book.
"Excited to finally share that Al Roker Entertainment has partnered with 'Grief Is Love: Living with Loss', best-selling author Marisa Renee Lee, to bring the book to screen!" Roker captioned the post.
He continued, “The book, NOW available on paperback, is published by Legacy Lit, an imprint of Hachette Book Group that has worked with Roker in the past."
The caption added, "VP, Publisher @krishantrotman said, 'I’m so proud that two of my authors have collaborated on this project that will spark important dialogue about grief that I know will provide hope and change lives.'"
He concluded the post by writing, "Stay tuned here for updates on development as ARE and Lee collaborate on this heartfelt and transformative portrayal of the human capacity to heal and find joy in life after loss."
Where is Al Roker?
Al Roker’s involvement in other business ventures could be the reason for his absence from the ‘Today’ show.
On the previous Monday, Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones, and Dylan Dreyer assumed their usual roles for the ‘Today 3rd Hour’, with Roker notably absent.
Melvin, during his introduction, mentioned that Roker was taking the day off, which was in observance of Columbus Day on October 9, a day commemorating Christopher Columbus's discovery of America.
Dreyer stepped in for Roker on the main show and provided the day's weather report.
