LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actor Michael Shannon who is known for his roles in 'Revolutionary Road' and 'Nocturnal Animals', has been quite busy lately. He has wrapped up production on his first feature, a dark comedy titled 'Dead Guy'. He has also made his directorial debut with the film version of the play 'Eric LaRue'.
Additionally, the 49-year-old 'Man of Steel' star was known to have taken a band on the road to play R.E.M.'s 'Murmur' for its 40th anniversary.
Recently, on Jimmy Fallon's late-night show, Shannon divulged an amusing detail about his daughters' Halloween plans.
Michael Shannon about Halloween
When Fallon inquired about his excitement for the widely celebrated holiday, Shannon responded that he couldn't really drum up any excitement for Halloween.
"I could care less," said the actor.
"I mean, I'm an actor, so I dress up like imaginary or other people all the time," said Shannon, admitting this is not a holiday for him. "It's like, 'Give me my money,'" he added.
Michael Shannon's daughter is channeling 'Midnights' Taylor Swift for Halloween
Shannon said that his two young daughters Sylvia, born in 2008 and Marion in 2011, love Halloween.
"I mean, my older daughter is 15, so she's kind of aging out of the trick or treating thing. But we have an amazing house in our neighborhood, the Halloween house that people come from miles around to stare at this house," explained the actor.
Shannon further explained, "And this guy who owns this house I think has like 125 animated figurines on his porch. And they're all in different categories. Like there's the zombie zone, the clown zone, spooky little kid zone."
"His entire house is covered with skeletons climbing up the side of it, and every year he's got more stuff."
The actor then described his own minimal Halloween decorations. "I just had one little guy, Sam, who's got like a pumpkin for a head, and he -- and if you step on the little door pad, he starts laughing and waving a lollipop at you. And I've seen this terrify toddlers. Make them start crying."
Fallon then quipped, "Sam the lollipop jack-o'-lantern?"
"Yeah, it's from some movie that I never saw, but it's pretty scary. But anyway, I prefer — that's the more fun part," Shannon said.
Shannon's daughter Marion's Halloween costume apparently keeps changing, said the actor. "She was going to try and dress up as Midnight, which I thought was rather lyrical, poetic."
Jimmy interrupted, saying "Like a Taylor Swift thing, maybe like with 'Midnights'?"
The actor responded, "I think. Yeah. I think that's basically Taylor Swift." Later, the host added that his daughter "is going as Taylor Swift too," but was drawing inspiration from another one of Swift's albums — '1989'.
Fans thought Michael Shannon was 'wearing his Halloween costume' on Fallon's show
Fans immediately reacted to Shannon's appearance on the show. "Hes wearing his Halloween costume for tomorrow 3:02," said one fan.
Another wrote, "Oh shit! I never thought he'd be on the show."
"Michael Shannon looking younger," noted another. "For a guy who plays a lot of angry, evil and villainous characters, he's a sweet, humble and hilarious guy!" mentioned another user.
