LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tim Burton has given an update on his upcoming horror-comedy flick ‘Beetlejuice2.' The filmmaker posted on his Instagram account that the team has finished shooting and will carry on with other tasks.
Burton said that they only required one-and-a-half days of shooting, but it was left hanging after the SAG-AFTRA strike.
“Just finished shooting 'Beetlejuice.' Thank you to everyone involved,” Tim wrote on his social media handle as he shared an image from the set.
'Beetlejuice2' is Tim Burton's sequel to 1998 hit movie
The movie is a sequel to Burton’s 1998 cult classic, starring Michael Keaton, who returns for his titular role, opposite returning cast members Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara.
The fresh faces audiences will see in the movie are Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci, and Justin Theroux, as per Deadline.
Last year, Burton told The Independent, “I feel grateful we got what we got. Literally, it was a day-and-a-half. We know what we have to do. It is 99 percent done.”
He added, “On this last one, Beetlejuice 2, I really enjoyed it,” given the expectation of coming up with a sequel of the celebrated flick.
“I tried to strip everything and go back to the basics of working with good people and actors and puppets. It was kind of like going back to why I liked making movies," he added.
Michael Keaton had time of his life shooting 'Beetlejuice2'
Oscar winner Keaton said in Empire magazine previously, “Beetlejuice is the most fuckin’ fun you can have working,”
He added, “It’s so fun, it’s so great. And you know what it is? We’re doing it exactly like we did the first movie. There’s a woman in the great waiting room for the afterlife literally with a fishing line – I want people to know this because I love it – tugging on the tail of a cat to make it move.”
Keaton also talked about keeping the sequel in sync with the original flick, “It has to be done as close to the way we made it the first time. Making stuff up, making stuff happen, improvising and riffing, but literally handmade stuff like people creating things with their hands and building something. Fuckin’ great. It’s the most fun I’ve had working on a movie in, I can’t tell you how long.”
Warner Bros will release ‘Beetlejuice 2’ on September 6, 2024, in theaters.
